Lending our support – TWB reaches 40 million translated words!

RP Translate have been a proud Silver Sponsor of Translators without Borders (TWB) since 2014. Every day, TWB (a non-profit organisation) provides access to vital and life-saving knowledge. Volunteers connect humanitarian organizations with a professional community of volunteer translators to communicate critical information across a network of countries and cultures. Translators without Borders contributes to humanitarian efforts through translating a range of materials such as crisis response and health information, as well as through raising awareness of the costly impact of ignoring language barriers.

We are delighted to share great news about a milestone that TWB has just reached….

As of 15:30 CET on 4th January 2017, Translators without Borders logged 40 million translated words for non-profit organizations. That’s the equivalent of translating War and Peace into 70 languages!  What TWB has really done, though, is to help to get lifesaving and life changing information to people who need it in their own language.

Over the past five years, thousands of professional translators have worked with TWB to provide a translation service to partners which has enabled them to communicate with those in need around the world, in the language of the local people.

'Language is critical. Providing assistance to those in need, in a language and format they can understand, should be non-negotiable. This impowers them to act on their own behalf and safeguards people's dignity during times of need,' said Aimee Ansari, Executive Director of TWB.

We thank the translators and the non-profit organizations with whom we have partnered. Through their important work to improve the lives of the most vulnerable, including those affected by natural disasters and public health crises, we were able to bring vital information to people in a language they understand, regardless of their location.'
